Selpal is an agnostic virtual distribution platform for FMCG and financial services. We enable township supply chains and financial inclusion using a smart POS, big data, electronic ordering and wallet based payments
Selpal is an agnostic virtual distribution platform that brings value to township suppliers, merchants and consumers. Selpal links participants in townships supply chains by using innovative technology and strong in-field implementation. Selpal is focussed on giving a direct route to market into the townships for the FMCG industry and the financial services industry.
Selpal's platform pivots around township retailers or merchants - spazas, mini markets, tuck shops, kiosks, shebeens, taverns and bottle stores. Our merchants are fully enabled with a Selpal smart POS device, our Selpal app and Selpal branding and activations for their store. The merchant can use the Selpal device to sell a full basket of virtual products, record the sales of physical products in store as well as order from suppliers and pay them electronically using an e-wallet. By having Selpal, the merchant is bringing the offering of a supermarket cash counter to their neighbourhood.
Selpal has a loyalty program called Dollas allowing customers that register with Selpal to get free money for buying the products that they always buy in the stores where they normally shop. Customers can use Dollas to buy any product in the Selpal ecosystem real time. In addition, customers get a free e-wallet called a Vault Wallet that offers them a safe, cheap and credible alternative to transacting in cash. Selpal has a customer app that enables customers to buy virtual products and self-service wallet transactions from the comfort of their home should they choose to use it
Suppliers into townships are able to publish their stock catalogues to the Selpal merchant base who are able to order from them online and pay electronically using their Vault Wallet. Payment can be made at the time of order, later or on delivery. In addition to the benefits of receiving orders in advance and being paid electronically, Selpal is able to use the merchants buying and selling data to gain deep insights into township trading and working capital patterns
FMCG manufacturers suffer from an acute lack of data around township supply chains, township customers and pricing throughout the value chain. Selpal's integrated approach to this market generates rich data which addresses this issue. In addition Selpal can do virtual promotions and virtual campaigns in stores and activate the end customers directly. The virtual campaigns and promotions are measurable down to the individual transaction level - generating a measurable and clear IRR on these activities. The promotions and campaigns can be targeted to a very granular level.
Each of our merchants has a Selpal device which is connected to the internet and PCI compliant. These devices offer a convenient and cost effective service point for banks and financial service providers to reach township customers directly. We have an innovative pipeline of banking and financial service offerings that speak to financial inclusion, cost effectiveness and convenience for township customers who need it the most
To make our ecosystem work, we need cash in our wallets. Selpal has a very effective multi-channel, multi-service approach to getting cash into our ecosystem safely and cost effectively. This presents a compelling value proposition particularly to our merchants who have had very few alternatives to trading using cash. Cash management is key to Selpal's success and is based on our strong operational team and innovative approach to dealing with cash
