Slide is a technology-driven consumer finance company, focused on making peer-to-peer payments secure, easy and affordable across South Africa.
Founded in 2017 to address the need for a seamless peer-to-peer payments platform in South Africa, Slide aims to make consumer finance smooth, frictionless and easy for all.
We believe in using new technologies to bring down fees and lowering the barriers to participation and inclusion in the formal economy.
The Company is currently launching its first major consumer offering: a new mobile phone peer-to-peer payments app for the South African market.
Dr Alon Stern is a scientist, an explorer and an entrepreneur. Alon did his undergrad at the University of Cape Town, majoring in Mathematics. In 2009, Alon moved to the US on a Fulbright Scholarship to work on his PhD at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Science at NYU. Next, Alon worked at Princeton University, coding and developing numerical climate models with a goal to project sea level rise. Alon has travelled in over 80 countries, including Antarctica and Greenland, where he collected measurements as part of his PhD. @Stern_Alon
Irshad is that rare breed: able to combine a creative mind with a strong head for business and finance. After graduating from UCT in 2007 with a B. Bus. Sc (Hons) in Finance, Irshad was recruited as an Analyst for JP Morgan. Irshad quickly moved up the ranks of the company working in the Johannesburg, London and New York offices, eventually being promoted to Executive Director at the age of 30. In 2013, Irshad was appointed as the North American Head of Credit Risk Strategy for the Bank's $350 billion Investment Fund – at the time the largest single-strategy fixed-income fund in the world. In 2016, Irshad resigned from JP Morgan, grabbed his backpack, and went travelling, before returning to South Africa to co-found Slide. @Irshad_Kat
After completing a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town and a second Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge, Terence moved to Toronto to join MoneyKey as Director of Special Projects in 2013. In 2015, Terence joined Mavrx Inc. as a Product Manager in San Francisco where he was responsible for planning and leading the development of the internal flight logistics system (FOCS). @Tejogol
